On Wednesday I volunteered at Sacred Heart Community Service and was working on a computer in their Joblink office. Volunteer counselors there help unemployed people find jobs to lift them out of poverty. Many Joblink customers have no money and no car. While there I heard one customer say he might have to sell his $800 truck to pay his rent this month. Two other customers asked Maria for bus tokens for job interviews and she had to tell them that there were none to give.

Later that day I heard that a few weeks ago Arturo gave a customer a one-day bus pass to look for a job. A few days later the customer came back to Sacred Heart. With that bus pass he had gone to five job interviews and found a job! And with a steady job his life has turned around. What a simple thing and what an impact!

The Sacred Heart team is raising money for bus passes for folks who need them. Their flyer is here. If you can help, contact Mathew or Arturo at Sacred Heart Community Service.
